The Unwelcoming Committee
Ethan and Yuri are an international couple. They settle in Ethan’s country, but when attitudes towards immigrants become hostile there, they move to Yuri’s country. Shortly thereafter, anti-foreigner sentiment grows in Yuri’s country, so they move to another country with a more temperate climate. Unfortunately, a movement against foreigners swells in that country, too. Realizing they can never be comfortable on Earth, they volunteer to join the first group of colonizers to Mars. As their shuttle lands, they’re awestruck by the crimson landscape. Home at last! Then there’s a pounding on the door. Goodness, they think. They’re here already.
