Time Is Money

I want:
To look at my desk one time and not see six
empty notebooks.

To live one full month without knowledge
or concern for my bank balance.

A no-bid contract to supply orange traffic barrels
to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

To collect the salary of the CEO of Exxon-Mobil
for the next four hours.

For GE to pay the federal taxes they avoided last year
to me.

The money Coca-Cola spent last year
to support tyrants in LatinAmerica.

A dollar for every Burger King Whopper
sold in America yesterday.

A dollar for every political whopper
told in America yesterday.

I want what Ferlinghetti, at the age of 94, is still waiting for,
a new rebirth of wonder in America
today.

Or at the very latest tomorrow.
